Terms of Service
1. What Axis is
Axis is a personal life-management app operated by Jonathan Finkbeiner ("Axis", "we"). It helps you plan tasks, calendar, routines, goals, projects, notes, fitness, and personal finances in one place, with an AI assistant. By creating an account or using Axis you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. Early access
Axis is currently in early access and free of charge. Features may change, be added, or be removed. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you in advance and you will be able to export your data or delete your account before anything changes.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 13 (or the age of digital consent where you live) and provide accurate information.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials, vault PIN, and recovery phrase safe. The password vault cannot be recovered if you lose both the PIN and the recovery phrase.
- One person per account. Don't share your account.
4. Your data
You own the content you put into Axis. You give us permission to store, process, and display it solely to run Axis for you (including sending the relevant parts to the AI provider you selected, and to Plaid, Google, or Strava if you connect them). You can export your data and delete your account at any time from Settings → Account.
5. Third-party services
Bank connections are provided by Plaid and are subject to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy. Google Calendar and Strava connections are subject to those services' terms. AI responses are generated by third-party models (Anthropic or OpenAI). We do not control these services and are not responsible for their availability or accuracy.
6. Not financial, medical, or legal advice
Axis shows your own numbers back to you and, through Nova, offers suggestions. Nothing in Axis is financial, investment, tax, medical, fitness, or legal advice. AI output can be wrong; check anything that matters before acting on it. Nova cannot delete data or add anything to your calendar without your explicit approval, but you remain responsible for what you approve.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use Axis to break the law, to store content you have no right to store, to attack or overload the service, to probe other users' data, or to resell access. We may rate-limit AI features to keep the service affordable for everyone during early access.
8. Availability
Axis is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard to keep it running and to keep your data safe, but we do not promise uninterrupted service, and we do not guarantee that data will never be lost. Keep your own exports of anything critical.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Axis and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of Axis. Because Axis is free during early access, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to $100 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using Axis and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or put the service or other users at risk; where reasonable, we will give you notice and time to export your data.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Axis evolves. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Axis after that means you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
